SC bans oral transfer of land by patwarkhanas

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Thursday imposed a ban on oral sale and purchase of land by patwaris (land clerk) in different cities of Punjab, ARY News reported. According to the apex court, no land would now be transferred orally as being practised by patwaris. Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar heard the matter at the Supreme Court today. LAHORE: The Pakistan Railways has retrieved illegally occupied 30 marla commercial land of worth Rs 30 million near Basirpur Railway Station, Punjab, according to reports. 849 acres of Railways land leased out in Sindh

ISLAMABAD: Around 849 acres of precious railway land was leased out to 428 individuals by the Ministry of Railways in Sindh during last five years but in some cases not even a single penny was received from the leaseholders.
