ATC acquits 20 suspects in Christian couple killing case

LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court here has acquitted 20 suspects booked for allegedly lynching and immolating a Christian couple accused of committing blasphemy in Kot Radha Kishan in 2014. In Nov 2014, brick factory workers - Shahzad and his wife Shama - were burned to death in a brick kiln by a charged mob for allegedly desecrating the Holy Quran. Fugitive in Mashal Khan lynching case surrenders to police

MARDAN: Police on Monday arrested an absconder in the Mashal Khan lynching case, ARY News reported. Sabir Mayar, a fugitive in the case, surrendered himself to the police, according to Madran District Police Officer Dr Mian Saeed. He said the accused was one of the two fugitives who had been on the run following the murder of the student. ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Tuesday disposed of a suo motu case pertaining to the lynching of Mashal Khan after conviction of accused persons by an anti-terrorism court in the case. PESHAWAR: An appeal challenging the acquittal of 26 suspects in the Mashal Khan lynching case was filed in the Peshawar High Court on Wednesday. The appeal, filed by Aimal Khan, the victim's brother, requests the high court to set aside the trial court February 7 verdict, which ordered release of 26 suspects for want of evidence.
