SAN FRANCISCO: Microsoft on Wednesday followed through on a promise to release versions of its widely used Word, Excel and PowerPoint programs for smartphones running on Google-backed Android software.
Microsoft did not give a reason for the delay in a statement on Sunday. The delay is the latest in a series of setbacks for Microsoft in China, where it is under investigation for suspected anti-trust violations related to the Windows operating system and Microsoft Office. The Chinese government lifted a 2000 ban on gaming consoles earlier this year.
