Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Petroleum Division Nadeem Babar on Thursday said that Sindh may face a gas shortfall of over 400MMCFD during the upcoming winter season.
The federal minister said that the bidding process is being initiated for the renewable electricity projects, whereas, the scientists and engineers are busy in locally preparing power generation equipment.
The cabinet members criticised the special assistant, saying that he made new claims after failing to end petrol crisis within three days.
Nadeem Babar made the statement while briefing the National Assembly's Standing Committee on Privatisation during a session held under the chair of Syed Mustafa Mahmud.
From September, an awareness campaign about gas consumption will be launched for few months.

"Actions are being taken against government employees over their involvement in gas theft," said Nadeem Babar.
