Saudi soldier killed, marring calm in Qatif province: Al Arabiya

DUBAI: A Saudi soldier was killed during a raid against suspected militants in the town of al-Awamiya in the kingdom’s eastern Qatif province, Al Arabiya TV reported. Violence in the restive area had appeared to become more rare since security forces largely flushed out Shi’ite Muslim gunmen last summer in a campaign which flattened much of the town’s old quarter. RIYADH: Saudi Arabia's police have shot dead three men wanted for "terrorist" attacks in the country's east, the interior ministry of the kingdom said on Friday. DUBAI: Two Saudi suspects killed when their car exploded in Awamiya town of the kingdom were wanted for murdering police officers, the interior ministry said on Tuesday. RIYADH: An explosion took place in a Saudi Arabian community on Thursday and emergency vehicles converged on the scene, a witness told AFP.
