‘Traffic Enforcement Unit’ launched to regulate traffic on Shahrah-e-Faisal

KARACHI: Karachi police chief Dr Amir Ahmed Shaikh on Thursday inaugurated a special unit, Traffic Enforcement Unit, to control traffic on one of the city’s busiest artery Shahrah-e-Faisal. The Additional Inspector General of Sindh Police (AIGP) inaugurated the unit at Cantt Traffic Police Chowki. Speaking on the occasion, he said the unit comprises 20 cars and 16 two-wheelers. The purpose behind setting up this unit is to effectively regulate traffic on Shahrah-e-Faisal, he explained.

KMC to set up motorbike track along Shahrah-e-Faisal

KARACHI: Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has started the work of setting up a separate motorbike track reserved for motorcyclists alongside Shahrah-e-Faisal, said Mayor Wasim Akhtar while talking to media recently. The track for motorcyclists will cover the area from Malir Halt to the Metropole Hotel in Saddar. Karachi hotel fire kills at least 11

KARACHI: At least 11 people were killed when a fire broke out in a hotel located at Karachi's Shahrah-e-Faisal on Sunday night, ARY News reported. The blaze, which broke out on the ground floor of the hotel, killed at least 11 people and injured 74 others including Rangers personnel. The 11 deceased included four women, five doctors and the manager of the hotel, officials said. Most of the people died of suffocation. Around 30 injured said to be in a precarious condition.
