This Faisalabad school uses solar energy to run night classes

FAISALABAD: A school in Faisalabad is making use solar energy to run classes at night – a rare occurrence in any outskirt areas of the country. According to World Economic Forum (WEF) report, the 23-year old social activist and educationist Rohayl Varind set up two branches of Slum School in Faisalabad, around 323 kilometres south of capital Islamabad, offering night classes to children. Punjab govt to convert 20,000 schools to solar energy

LAHORE: The goverment of Punjab has announced that it will convert 20,000 schools to solar energy at the cost of Rs9 billion under the Khadim-e-Punjab Ujala Programme. PARIS: The world added a record 138.5 gigawatts of renewable power capacity in 2016 despite a 23 percent drop in investment, reflecting the falling cost of clean energy, the UN announced on Thursday.
