WASHINGTON: A commemorative plaque brought to the moon on the Apollo 11 mission went under the hammer for $468,500 in Texas, as part of a huge collection that once belonged to late astronaut Neil Armstrong, auctioneers said. Illegal ivory openly sold across Europe: study

BRUSSELS: Traders are selling illegal ivory openly across the European Union through a loophole allowing trade in "antique" items, the campaign group Avaaz charged Tuesday. Avaaz said nearly all of the 109 ivory pieces it bought in 10 EU countries were found to be illegal after they were tested at Britain's Oxford University. Police recover 800 hides of donkeys, dogs in Karachi

KARACHI: Police on Friday arrested two men in Karachi allegedly selling hides of donkeys and dogs, ARY News reported. Police said an Afghani, Abdul Hameed, and another man were arrested during a raid conducted on a tip-off at a godown in Korangi Industrial Area. The suspects had concealed about 800 hides of dogs and donkeys stuffed in over 200 sacks, they said.
