The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) officials on Saturday completed the recounting of votes in NA-249
During the second day of the recounting process, 244 votes of Pakistan People's Party (PPP) candidate Qadir Khan Mandokhail were declared rejected.
The ECP has decided that its provincial offices with necessary staff will remain open during Eid holidays.
The PTI in its plea claimed that 17,000 votes of the constituency were transferred to other areas before the election in NA-249.
The parties boycotted recounting over nonprovision of Form 45 and 46.
There is a fear of the possible clash between supporters of political parties during the vote recounting process in the Karachi constituency
"PPP welcomes the Election Commission of Pakistan's (ECP) decision to order a recounting of votes cast in Karachi's NA-249 by-election"
The PPP would take a plea before the ECP that as per the law, only rejected votes could be recounted.
After the recounting, PTI's Fatahullah Khan won the GB polls in the constituency with the lead of two votes. He received overall 6,696 votes against PPP's Jameel Ahmed who manages to get 6,694 votes.
