Tahir-ul-Qadri arrives tomorrow to restart street protests

He was speaking at the Heathrow Airport in London where he vowed to avenge the deaths of those killed in the Model Town incident. He said that no progress has been made despite the fact that a one-sided inquiry committee had placed the blame on the Punjab government.

Later, Qadri boarded a Qatar Airways flight to Lahore via Doha which is expected to reach tomorrow.

The firebrand cleric will organize a sit-in demonstration at Faisal Chowk on Mall Road on 17th June on the second anniversary of the Model Town incident.

Qadri will personally lead the agitation and is also expected to address the participants. The Lahore administration has given conditional permission for the sit-in demonstration.

Around 14 people were killed and more than a hundred were injured in a violent clash with the Punjab Police outside the offices of the Minhaj-ul-Quran of Tahir-ul-Qadri when they attempted to remove a barrier.

Qadri has called the incident as state terrorism, while independent analyst are of the opinion that the government acted in haste over the incident.
