Taliban were approached for talks, claims Nisar

ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has claimed that a direct contact was made with Taliban for holding negotiations. He added that the Government had tried to approach Mullah Fazlullah prior to Bannu attack on forces – ARY News reports.

According to details, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan denied the statement of Taliban spokesperson and said that the Government is making efforts for holding peace talks. He added that Hakimullah Mehsud was contacted, yet a drone attack sabotaged the entire process.

The Interior Minister claimed that prior to Bannu Incident, Mullah Fazlullah was also tried to be approached and Bannu airport was also determined to be the place for negotiations, whilst Imran Khan, Molana Fazlur Rahman and Munawwar Hassan were also consulted.

He mentioned that whether talks or operation, no decision can be successful without consultation. Terrorism is an issue of a single political party, but the entire nation is affected from it.

Nisar further said that the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif announced all the major decisions after consultation in the House.

The Federal Minister said that PM Nawaz respects the House and he will surely come to brief the Parliament on important issues.
