Taliban doubtful whether military, Gov't on same page or not, says Munawwar
LAHORE: Ameer of Jamat e Islami (JI), Syed Munawwar Hassan while suggesting Taliban and Government team for peace talks for an immediate ceasefire, has urged to carry on negotiations process until it meets a success – ARY News reports.
Addressing the Friday salah gathering here at Mansoora, Syed Munawwar Hassan said that Taliban should also hold back from taking a stance, which could obstruct the dialogue process, whilst he urged the military to abandon offensive in tribal region and to pave ways for the success of negotiations.
He claimed that Taliban are still doubtful about the military and the Government of Pakistan being on a same page.
Speaking about Imran Khan's statement regarding the Prime Minister for having suspicions on the success of a possible military offensive in North Waziristan, Munawwar urged PM Nawaz Sharif to elaborate on this.
The JI Ameer said that even if the talks fail, operation is not alternative.
Moreover, he welcomed a meeting of Ulema and scholars called by Molana Samiul Haq.
