Taliban Talks: Meeting of Govt committee today

ISLAMABAD: The peace talks committee of the federal government will meet today in Islamabad to discuss the negotiation process with Taliban militants, ARY News reports on Tuesday.

The members of the government formed committee will meet whereas Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan will also attend the meeting session.

It is also being said that the peace talks team will also discuss the separation of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam – Fazl (JUI-F) representative Maulvi Kifayatullah and Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan from the committee nominated by Taliban.

According to Taliban sources, the militants are considering the names of Orya Maqbool Jan and Ansar Abbasi in the peace committee after the JUI-F and PTI officials refused to be a part of the peace team.

The peace committee is expected to make their final decision of initiating the peace process with the outlawed militant groups in the meeting today.

Earlier, Taliban elected representative Maulana Sami-ul-Haq met with the coordinator of the Government peace talk committee Irfan Siddiqui.

In an exclusive interview with ARY News, Maulana Sami said that Taliban intermediaries will serve as mediators between the two sides and will inform the nation of the truth.
