Target killer among 17 rounded up in Karachi raids

KARACHI: Seventeen outlaws, an alleged target killer of a banned outfit among them, were arrested in raids carried out by the Rangers and police in different parts of the metropolis on Monday night.

Police said suspected target killer Muhammad Saud was arrested during a raid in Gulberg area of Karachi. He was involved in heinous crimes, including targeted killings, firing on the Rangers personnel, and extortion, they added.

A spokesperson of the Rangers said the paramilitary troops arrested four street criminals within the jurisdiction of Jamshed Quarters and Brigade police stations, whereas five suspects were taken into custody from the Darkhshan police station limits and weapons, snatched valuables and narcotics were recovered from their possession.

Shah Latif Town police nabbed a suspect involved in a murder of a citizen. Police said the accused had killed Rahim along with his accomplices.

Meanwhile, two suspects were rounded up in Zaman Town and North Nazimabad areas and illegal arms and a snatched motorcycle were recovered from their possession.

Liaqatabad police arrested two criminals and recovered weapons from their possession. Two more suspects were taken into custody after a brief gun battle between them and the policemen, police said adding that illegal weapons and two snatched bikes were seized from their possession.
