Suspected target killer shot dead in Karachi shootout

KARACHI: A suspected target killer was shot dead while another escaped after a shootout with the personnel of Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of police, ARY News reported on Tuesday.

Police officials said the SIU personnel carried out a targeted raid in Korangi area. On seeing the police, the suspects opened fire at them, they said, adding that the police returned fire and in an ensuing encounter, suspect Abid was killed while his accomplice managed to flee from the scene.

Police officials claimed Abid was involved in targeted killings of police personnel. He had killed a police constable within the limits of Khawaja Ajmer Nagri police station.

Meanwhile, two alleged robbers were arrested in injured condition while their accomplice managed to flee after an encounter with police in Korangi area, according to the area police.

The police said they have recovered two pistols and a snatched motorcycle from their possession.

Earlier on Sunday, Manghopir police had arrested a suspected a target killer associated with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-London (MQM-L) and recovered 30 bore pistol, hashish and five rounds from his possession.

The suspect identified as Amir alias Kala was arrested in the area bordering Balochistan province, police officials said, adding that he was smuggling narcotics into the city from Balochistan.
