The oil tankers association announced strike against government move for imposing 5% of sales tax. They halted supply of oil from Karachi to other parts of the country in protest.
Around 400 oil tankers supply petrol and fuel to other parts of the country including Sindh on daily basis. In case the supply of furnace oil is halted for a longer period, it is feared that generation capacity of power plants would be affected.
Oil tankers association representative lamented that government had rejected their request for withdrawing 5% of sales tax. He said their association pay different kind of tax, any imposition of any new tax was sheer injustice.
