Team formed to probe minors’ deaths ‘due to unhygienic food’

KARACHI: The Sindh Police have constituted an investigation team headed by SSP South Pir Mohammed Shah to probe deaths of two minor brothers, allegedly because of food poisoning in Karachi, ARY News reported.

According to details, SSP Tariq Dharejo and ASP Clifton are also included in the team, which would present the investigation report in 72 hours.

Two minors, Ahmad, one and a half year old, and Muhammad, five years old, both sons of Ahsan and residents of Creek Vista, on Sunday perished of food poisoning after consuming unhygienic meal at a restaurant in Karachi.

Mother of the kids, Ayesha is hospitalised in South City Hospital and her condition is quite better now.

They reportedly had dinner at a restaurant at Zamzama area, a while later they also ate sweets at a playland in Defence Housing Society area last night.

Karachi Police Chief Amir Sheikh said they fell sick early in the morning at 6:00 am and they were brought to the hospital in the afternoon after their condition deteriorated.

He said police were also interrogating the family members apart from other people. He said vomit of the children had also been sent to laboratory for inspection. “Investigation is being carried out from every possible angle,” he said.

The family had dined out at the restaurant last night. They also had sweets from the playland.

Director Sindh Food Authority said they were collecting samples of every eatables from the restaurant and the playland and they had obtained CCTV footage of the incident which would reveal what those kids ate from which stall.
