Test between Pakistan and Sri Lanka ends in a draw

ABU DHABI: The first test between Pakistan and Sri Lanka ended in a draw, Mohammad Hafeez scored a fluent half-century to broke his 12-innings long half-century drought in the second inning in Abu Dhabi after being set a 302-run target in 67 overs, ARY News reported.

Sri Lanka resumed the day at 420-5 on the last day of Abu Dhabi test. Prasanna Jayawardene and captain of Sri Lanka Angelo Mathews didn't show any urgency for runs and quietly nibbled away at time, scoring at a rate of less than three.

Jayawardene posted 63* runs and Mathews scored unbeaten 157 runs adding 60runs that came in 20.3 overs. They declared the inning setting 302 to win in 67 overs.

Pakistan lost Khurram Manzoor at the start of their chase. Mohammad Hafeez (80*) gave 101-run stand with Ahmed Shehzad, effectively closed the door on Sri Lanka after Suranga Lakmal had provided an early breakthrough in the seventh over of the innings. 
Shehzad got out lbw off Rangana Herath. He scored 55 runs.

Mathews was named as the Man of the Match for his 91 and 157*.

The second test between the two will be played on January 8 at Dubai International Stadium.
