KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has said that a block of coal deposits in Thar can produce 40 to 50 thousand megawatt power, ARY News reported on Saturday. 

Qaim Ali Shah was addressing a conference on Thar Coal project in Karachi.

He said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari will lay the foundation stone of Thar Coal Project on January 31st.  
 
Petroleum Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi says consensus exists among political parties to use Thar Coal to cater to energy needs.

He said concerted efforts are being made to address the energy shortfall.
The minister said technical aspects of Thar coal will be reviewed.
