MITHI: Another child died in an impoverished desert region of Tharparkar, taking the death toll to 220, ARY News reported Sunday.
The famine-like situation continues to haunt the denizens of the district, as government measures to protect human lives are failing to yield intended results. A child brought today to a hospital in native village Chachro, Mithi breathed his last.
The PPP leader Faryal Talpur is also scheduled to reach Tharparkar today to inspect relief works.
It is pertinent to mention here that relief items could not be dispatched in various far-flung areas, thus adding to the miseries of local people.
The aid announced by the prime minister for drought-hit people was transferred through Benazir Income Support Programme. However, it also left people disappointed when they moved to ATM machines and found it cash-starved.
