MITHI: A drought and famine-like situation in Tharparkar continue to haunt denizens of the district as two more women breathed their last, bringing the death toll to 212, ARY News reported Thursday.
The deceased women were admitted at a hospital in Mithi due to famine. Earlier on Wednesday five children also perished due to the same situation along with suffering from gastro.
Secretary Health Iqbal Hasan Durrani had told the media on Wednesday that 99 doctors, found negligent in their duties, had been suspended.
In his speech during a Sindh Assembly session on Tuesday, the Chief Minister Sindh Qaim Ali Shah had said his party had won the seats in Tharparkar due to public service.
He said Thar was highly important district for Pakistan, adding lack of rainfall developed a drought-like situation in the district.
