‘Ozark,’ ‘The Crown’ actors bag top TV honors at SAG Awards

The Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards were handed out on Sunday for the best performances in film and television in 2020, with The Crown and Ozark stars taking home the best actors prizes.

Gillian Anderson nabbed the top acting honor for her stint as Margaret Thatcher in the fourth season of The Crown. She beat out her co-stars Olivia Colman and Emma Corrin, who played Queen Elizabeth and Princess Diana respectively, for the win.

Anderson made sure to especially shout her co-stars out in her acceptance speech, saying, “To Queenie Olivia, you have won every award under the sun, and to Emma, you deserve this along with me for such a mature and accomplished performance.”

Jason Bateman picked up the best actor in a TV drama award for his role as Marty Byrde in the Netflix original Ozark. He bested other Netflix favorites Regé-Jean Page and Josh O’Connor, as well as Bob Odenkirk and Sterling K. Brown.

Batemen dedicated his award to the Ozark team, his family, and healthcare workers at the forefront of the COVID pandemic reported People.

“I think they would all agree that the biggest thank-you goes to the healthcare workers that have tended to us all during this last year and the miracle work from scientists that have given us the vaccines,” he said.

On the other hand, Catherine O’Hara and Jason Sudeikis took home the best actor in a TV comedy for their roles in Schitt’s Creek and Ted Lasso respectively.
