Thirteen die in two road accidents in Punjab

LAYYAH: At least eleven people were killed and 21 others wounded in a collision between a bus and a truck in southern Punjab district Layyah on Wednesday morning, ARY News reported.

Police and Rescue sources said that the deadly accident took place on Karor road, leaving 11 dead and 24 others injured.

Rescue workers rushed to the accident site and shifted the deceased and injured to District Headquarter Hospital Layyah and Karor Lal Essan’s health facility where some of the injured are stated to be in precarious condition. The ill-fated bus was travelling from Karachi to Rawalpindi.

In another accident two brothers were killed at Firdous Market of Gulberg in provincial capital Lahore.

According to rescue officials, an over-speeding car hit a motorcycle, leaving the two riders critically injured. Before they could be transferred to a hospital for treatment, they succumbed to their injuries on the road.

Police said the victims were two brothers who have been identified as Arham, 18, and Moon, 21, and added the dead bodies have been handed over to their family after completing legal formalities.

They said the driver of the vehicle fled the scene of the accident and efforts were afoot to nab him.
