Three CIA personnel injured in Lahore ambush

LAHORE: Three Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) personnel including an officer were critically injured when unknown armed men opened fire at them here on Tuesday morning.

All injured were rushed to Lady Willingdon Hospital for for initial medical treatment.

According to sources, the incident took place on Fort Road within the jurisdiction of Tibi City police station.

The sources further confirmed that the CIA personnel were returning after conducting a raid.

The injured were identified as Rizwan, Zafar, and Afzal having Rs 70,000 cash and bonds in their possession. Two police teams have been constituted to probe into the matter of targeting the CIA personnel.

Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif has also taken notice of the incident.

According to officials, the evidences from the spot have been collected and investigation is underway.

It is pertinent to mention that Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs), following the blast in Lahore outside Punjab Assembly claiming 13 lives last month, became active in the province against miscreants and Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad was launched in aftermath of a series of terrorist attacks.
