KARACHI: A team of polio vaccinators was attacked in Qayyumabad area of Karachi on Tuesday, in which three pesons including two women were killed, ARY News reported.
Some gunmen opened fire at a team of the Polio immunization campaign in Qayyumabad locality of Karachi.
Police contingents of various police stations rushed to the area to control the situation after the deadly incident.
The incidents of attacks on polio vaccinators are rampant in Karachi, which have claimed several lives during the immunization campaigns to curb the crippling disorder.
The authorities have suspended polio immunization drive in District East and Korangi District of Karachi after the terrorist attack.
In another attack, a volunteer of polio vaccination team was shot dead in Shergarh area of district Mansehra in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The authorities have postponed polio vaccination drive in four districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province including Peshawar, which has been recently declared by the World Health Organization (WHO) as the hub of the polio virus in the world.
