Three gang members killed in Lyari, after attack on political party office

KARACHI: Three members of a Lyari gang were killed in an encounter in with police in Kalakot after attack on a political party office in the area.

The police launched a search operation on midnight after attack on an office of Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in the locality, police officials said.

According to police the members of Baba Ladla gang opened fire at the political party’s office in Gharib Shah area of Lyari, injuring three people including a local leader of the party, identified as Adeel Rehmani, Asad and Usman.

Another person was injured in a grenade attack at Bizenjo Chowk in the area.

The injured were transferred to Civil Hospital for medical attendance.

A heavy contingent of police and rangers was deployed after incidents of violence causing tension in the area.

The law enforcement agencies initiated a search operation and killed three members of Baba Ladla gang, police officials said. Illegal arms and hand grenades were also found from the slain criminals, they added.

After incidents of rampant lawlessness in Karachi, the government launched a law enforcement operation led by paramilitary force Rangers, in September 2013, to clean the largest city of Pakistan from terrorism, targeted killings, kidnapping for ransom, extortion and other crimes.

The operation against terrorists, militant wings of political parties and criminals effectively curbed crimes and created an environment peace in Karachi.
