NORTH WAZIRISITAN: Three new polio cases emerged in the country, taking the total number of affected patients to 43, ARY News reported Monday.
The affected children belonged to Miranshan, Tehsil of North Waziristan. According to World Health Organisation sources, there was considerable increase in number of polio cases in first three months of the year in Pakistan.
Last year in the corresponding period, six polio cases were reported in Pakistan, but this year the number of such affected patients has risen to 43.
The three latest cases are reported from different villages of Miranshah. A 34-month-old girl Bushra in Manzarkhel village, one-year-old Ashiq Ullah in Bora Khel, Sarkot area and 11-month-old Abulis from Deewagor village were found affected with polio.
Of the total polio cases, 33 were reported from North Waziristan alone.
