PESHAWAR: The number of the polio cases in the country increased to 66 with three new cases reported in Waziristan tribal region, ARY News reported on Monday.

Three latest victims of the disease have been reported in North and South Waziristan area of the tribal region.

According to reports around 160,000 children have been unvaccinated in North Waziristan region since August 2012.

Around 66 cases of polio virus have been reported in the country this year, sources said.

Twelve day polio and measles vaccination drive has been launched across Sindh from Monday (today).

In the drive that will continue till May 31, over 10 million children will be immunized from polio and measles.

It should be noted that the vaccination drives have been called off many times in Karachi due to security reasons.

More than ten polio volunteers have been killed by terrorists in the last 18 months in Karachi.
