Three policemen including SHO suspended over demolition of old school in Karachi
KARACHI: Three policemen, including a SHO, were suspended on Monday over negligence in the incident of demolition of decades old school in Garden area of Karachi, ARY News reported.
On directive of Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah, SSP East suspended the three police personnel, including SHO Soldier Bazaar Irshad Soomro.
A group of land mafia bulldozed the octogenarian school on Sunday night, where more than 1,000 children were getting education. Local residents had contacted police helpline, 15, however nobody turned up to protect the building.
This school in Garden East is listed with Ministry of Culture and Sindh Culture Department as a heritage building. The Jufelhurst School was established in 1931 by Sybil D’Abero.
The Sindh CM approved Rs30 million for rehabilitation and renovation of the school and ensured his support for crackdown against land mafia.
He deplored that negligence of the SHO caused great loss to the school. He also said to bring the culprits involved in this incident to justice.
