GUJRANWALA: Counter Terrorism Department shot dead five terrorists in an encounter at Gujranwala’s Wapda Town, ARY News reported on Saturday.
The law enforcement personnel carried out a raid in Wapda Town after receiving information regarding presence of terrorists in the area.
The terrorists opened fire at the CTD officials as they tried to escape from the scene. An exchange of fire took place between the attackers and the anti-terror squad in which five terrorists were killed, officials said.
Three terrorists managed to escape from the area.
Police seized a Kalashnikov, two pistols, hand grenades and different kinds of munitions from the slain terrorists.
CTD spokesman has said that the terrorists were planning to carry out a major terrorist attack in the city.
