TI reports Rs 1.8 tr annual tax theft in Pakistan

According to the TI, an annual tax theft of Rs 1.8 trillion is spotted in Pakistan. The TI cited Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) officials cited as confirming the tax theft report.

The report has been dispatched to the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and National Accountability Bureau for further action.

Sources told that a list of around 3 lakh people involved in tax theft had been prepared. Of them, 1,20,000 people have already been served notices, they added.

The most tax theft is reported in the finance and insurance department. Tax compliance from the services sector is also very low, said a report.
