Top PML-N leaders meet army chief

RAWALPINDI: Senior leaders of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif on Thursday evening, ARY News reported.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the PML-N delegation including Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, and Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif, met General Raheel Sharif at Army House between 4:00 pm and 5:30 pm.

The statement added: “The delegation briefed the COAS on the progress of investigation and recommendations related to planted story of the National Security breach of 6 Oct 2016.”

The meeting was also attended by DG ISI Lt-General Rizwan Akhtar, said the ISPR statement.

On Oct 14, participants of a Corps Commanders meeting at General Headquarters in Rawalpindi had expressed serious concern over leak of a security meeting.

In a statement issued by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), participants of the meeting expressed serious concern over “feeding of false and fabricated story of an important security meeting held at PM House and viewed it as breach of national security.”

Meanwhile, government authorities ordered crackdown on workers of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and arrested dozens of activists.

Imran Khan-led PTI has given a call for Islamabad lockdown on November 2 against prime minister’s alleged refusal to hold inquiry into Panama Papers revealing offshore wealth of his family.
