TOP NEWS

LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) summoned the Deputy Attorney General (DAG) for assistance over the petition filed in the court to stop the debates over the treason trial against the ex Army Chief General (Retd.) Pervez Musharraf in the media, ARY News reports on Monday.

The case was heard by Chief Justice of LHC Umar Atta Bandyal. The petitioner told the court that no pending case in the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) can be discussed in the media as certain officials try to influence the trial.

He further told the court that the high treason trial is a historical case in Pakistan. He added that some people try to give it a political face whereas it’s purely a constitutional issue.

The petitioner requested the court to issue orders to stop the debate on treason trial in the media till the proceedings are over.

LHC summoned the Deputy Attorney General on 16th January for assistance in the petition's hearing.
