Treason Trial: Special Court expects Musharraf in hearing today
ISLAMABAD: Special Court hearing the treason case is expecting the former President of Pakistan General (Retd.) Pervez Musharraf to appear in the hearing of his case here in Islamabad on Tuesday (today), ARY News reports.
A three member special bench headed by Justice Faisal Arab will hear the proceedings in the special court.
Heavy contingent of Law Enforcing Agencies (LEAs) have been deployed on the route to the Special Court.
Defence Lawyers of Pervez Musharraf are repeatedly requesting the bench to shift the case to a military court. A special police force has arrived at Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology (AFIC) to escort the former President to the court.
Pervez Musharraf has not yet appeared in the hearing of the case ever since he was admitted in AFIC for a heart problem.
Musharraf suffered cardiac attack just moments before the treason trial hearing on 2nd January.
Since then Musharraf’s lawyers are requesting the court to allow the military dictator to travel outside Pakistan for his treatment as the necessary procedure cannot be carried out in Pakistan.
Musharraf has not appeared in the court on basis of security as well. On 24th January, a 5kg explosive device was recovered near Chak Shehzad farmhouse where the former President was staying.
The former President had also submitted a petition to the Special Court to grant him immunity from court hearings as there are threats to his life.
On 30th December, five rocket launchers were found outside the farm house at Chak Shehzad.
