PESHAWAR: Preliminary meeting of the committee appointed by Taliban to represent them in talks with the government team, will be held today, citing an official of Jamiat Ulema e Islam-Sami (JUI-S) ARY News reported on Monday.
JUI-S leader Yousuf Shah has said that Prof. Ibrahim, Mufti Kifayatullah, Maulana Abdul Aziz and Maulana Samiul Haq will attend the meeting.
Pakistan's Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali has called the nomination of a team from Tehrik e Taliban Pakistan (TTP) a positive step, however, he questioned about the mandate of the committee.
TTP Spokesman Shahidullah Shahid in a statement has said that the TTP will offer full protection and security to the negotiators in the areas under their influence.
The spokesman said that the TTP political Shura will monitor and guide the talks committee.
TTP has constituted a 10-member committee led by Qari Shakeel to monitor the talks. The committee comprises of Khalid Haqqani, Umar Khalid Khurasani, Qari Bashir, Azim Tariq, Shahidullah Shahid and Asmatullah Muaaviya.
