TTP Shura meets to discuss ceasefire extension

MIRANSHAH: A meeting of Political Shura of the outlawed Tehreek e Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has been underway at an undisclosed location in North Waziristan tribal region to discuss extension in ceasefire, ARY News reported on Monday.

TTP had announced month-long ceasefire from the first March this year, which was later extended by 10 days after the government announce release of 19 Taliban prisoners.

Taliban sources said that the government had not informed them about release of 19 Taliban detainees.

Professor Ibrahim, an interlocutor of Taliban, has said that Talliban will likely to announce a permanent ceasefire instead of extension in the period of truce.

Taliban have demanded release of hundreds of detainees, they claimed were in the custody of the government agencies.

The government is releasing non-combatant Taliban and has demanded release of Professor Ajmal Khan, Shahbaz Taseer and Ali Haider Gillani, which said to be in detention of Taliban groups. But Taliban have claimed that Shahbaz Taseer and Ali Haider Gillani were not in their detention.
