ATTOCK: Two doctors, who were abducted five days back from Fateh Jhang in Attock district, were found dead on Monday morning, ARY News reported.

According to police, the bodies of the doctors were found from the Small Dam area in the district. They were moved to a nearby medical facility for medico-legal formalities, said a police official.

He said the deceased, identified as Dr Iftikhar and Dr Aziz, were abducted from Gali Jagir, adding that they hailed from Islamabad.

Dr Iftikhar had returned to Pakistan from the United States a few days back, said the official.

Earlier, on Jan 30, an abducted neurosurgeon from Quetta, Dr Ibrahim Khalil, had safely returned home 48 days after his abduction. The kidnappers reportedly dropped off him in a neighborhood in Chaman.

Reports relayed that Rs50 million was paid for the recovery of Dr Khalil.

Last year, on Dec 13, unidentified individuals had stopped Dr Khalil while he was on his way home from a private hospital on Zarghoon Road. The abductors forced him out of one car into another before fleeing away from the scene.

His abduction had sparked province-wide protests by medics who demanded his early recovery. Government hospital doctors had observed a strike since his abduction.
