NORTH WAZIRISTAN: Two more measles-related deaths were reported in North Waziristan, taking the death toll to four in the district, ARY News reported Wednesday.

The latest deaths are reported from Tehsil Shehwa of North Waziristan.

According to health department officials, Pakistan is among the countries where measles was spreading fast. Ironically, no anti-measles campaign could be started in North Waziristan region as yet.

The officials said health teams have been dispatched to the affected area.

World Health Organisation said a total of 16 children had been died of measles in tribal areas of Pakistan.

Doctors in Miranshah said military operation and persistent loadshedding had triggered shortage of medicines in the district. Over ten patients are being admitted at Miranshah Hospital on daily basis, but the sanatorium lacks proper facilities for treatment of measles.

Doctors say medicine go obsolete due to frequent power outages.
