Two injured in firing, explosion near a private university in Karachi

KARACHI: At least two people were injured reportedly in an explosion near a private university in Karachi on Monday, ARY News reports.

According to initial reports, some armed men entered a private university near Pehlwan Goth. Sources said the attackers were clad in Shalwar Kameez and they were three to four in numbers.

Firing was also heard in the area following the explosion. reportedly carried out by the attackers.

Heavy contingents of Police and Rangers have reached and surrounded the university.

A spokesman of the educational facility Sibtain Naqvi denied that such incident took place in the university and no terrorist had stormed inside the premises.

On the other hand, SSP East Javed Jaskani has claimed that two rockets were fired at the university. However, he later stated that the blast took place near the main gate of the educational facility.

Jaskani also said that the situation is under control.
