KARACHI: Two criminals killed in police encounter in Lyari area of Karachi as violence continued unabated in the metropolis, ARY News reported on Tuesday. 

Nine criminals were arrested in a raid of Rangers in Manghopir area.
 
In a late night encounter near Phool Chowk in Lea Market two armed men, said to be involved in Lyari gang war, were killed in exchange of fire with police. The killed armed men have been identified as Jan Mohammad Janu and Javed alias Current. 

Pakistan Rangers‚ in a targeted raid‚ arrested nine criminals in Kunwari Colony area of Manghopir including members of a banned outfit.

A kidnapped man Kunwar Mehmood recovered in the rangers raid and various weapons captured from the possession of the accused.

Moreover, security agencies have stepped up security in the area around Central Jail after intelligence reports about possibility of an attack on the jail. The roads leading to the jail have been blocked with tankers and additional police contingents have been deployed at University Road adjacent to Karachi Central Jail.
