A 10-month-old boy, Umar, resident of Gadap Town, was found inflicted with polio, while 220-month-old girl Hajra from Orangi Town was also reported suffering with the disease.
Officials have confirmed polio symptoms in both the minor children. Health Department said 13 cases of polio surfaced in the same day in tribal areas, which was alarming. It may be noted here that polio vaccinators often come under attack by miscreants in areas including Gadap and Manghopir which is considered in control of criminal elements. These areas also labelled as high-risk.
The total number of polio cases in the country has reached 158.
