Two security guards killed in Lahore factory fire
LAHORE: Two security guards, Imran and Nazir, were killed when a fire erupted at a cardboard and foam manufacturing factory here on Friday, ARY News reports.
According to police, an inferno suddenly erupted at a factory at Kot Lakhpat area and engulfed the larger part of the factory. The two security guards were severely burnt as they tried to extinguish the fire after informing the rescue authorities.
Rescue officials shifted Imran to Jinnah Hospital and shifted Nazeer to General Hospital where they succumbed to their injuries during treatment. The bodies were sent to a morgue for post-mortem.
The fire was extinguished by the authorities after two hour struggle. Goods worth of lacs were gutted by the fire. Rescue officials, in their initial investigation, said that the fire erupted due to a gas heater.
Police have taken several employees into custody for investigation.
