KARACHI: Unidentified armed men gunned down two private security guards in the city’s Gulistan-e-Jauhar neighborhood on Monday, ARY News reported.

Police said unidentified armed men riding a motorcycle sprayed the security guards with bullets, who were posted at the entrance to the office of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) in Gulistan-e-Jauhar area of Karachi. Both the guards sustained fatal injuries and died on the spot. Their dead bodies were shifted to a hospital for medico-legal formalities.

Following the incident, the law enforcement personnel arrived at the crime scene and started investigation after collecting evidence from the spot.

SSP East said the police have collected spent bullet casings of 9mm and 30-bore pistols from the spot. Initial investigation suggested that the armed men mistook the security guards for police personnel since their uniform resembled to that of police, he said.

He said efforts were being made to arrest the culprits.

Home Minister Sohail Anwar Siyal has condemned the incident and sought a report from Karachi police chief and SSP East on the killings of two guards and directed them to ensure that the culprits behind their killing are apprehended. He further directed the police to ramp up security and snap-checking across the city.
