Two wounded in car firing incident in Karachi’s Nursery area

KARACHI: At least two persons have been wounded in firing at a car, reportedly registered with renowned cleric Mufti Taqi Usmani, by assailants in Karachi’s Nursery area, ARY News reported on Friday.

It is the second incident of violent firing incident within 15 minutes in the metropolis.

The injured persons shifted to nearby hospital, who one among them succumbed to wounds. However, the identification of the deceased person is yet to be disclosed.

The incident took place in the Nursery area, leaving two persons seriously wounded by bullets.

Heavy contingents of police and Rangers have arrived in and cordoned off whole area. The vehicle was also taken custody for further investigation.

Police personnel have found rounds of 9mm pistol at the incident’s site.

The genre of attack increases suspicious of an attempt to spread sectarian crisis by targeting clerics of renowned seminary, Darul Uloom Karachi.

Darul Uloom’s spokesperson Mufti Zubair told ARY News that Mufti Taqi Usmani escaped unhurt in the life-threatening attack. Zubair added that gunmen on motorcycles showered bullets on the cleric’s vehicle.

In the first incident, religious figure Maulana Amir Shahab was targeted in a firing assault at Nipa Chowrangi of Karachi.

As per initial reports, at least four unknown assailants on two motorbikes, opened fire at a vehicle as it was riding down from the Nipa flyover.

The attackers fled the scene after firing leaving Amir Shahab and his security guard severely wounded.
