FAISALABAD: Violent protest erupted after two youngsters were killed in an alleged police shootout at the Millat Road in Faisalabad, ARY News reported.
The son of a police constable and his friend were shot dead in a shootout after being mistaken for street criminals. There were identified as Arsalan and Usman and were matriculation students. Both were taken to the Allied Hospital but passed away soon afterwards.
The family of the victims and college students protested at the Akbarabad roundabout over the incident, disrupting traffic and closing the main road leading to Sargodha.
They raised slogans against the police force and even attempted to attack a police attack, demanding that action must be taken against them.
The cousin of victim Arsalan said that both had gone together to a local eatery when they were stopped at police checkpoint, and were shot dead when they refused to stop.
A case has been registered against the victims and protesters at the Millat Town police station. No arrests have made so far neither were any weapons recovered from the possession of the victims.
Police claimed that the two motorcyclists were shot in cross firing when they refused to stop at a checkpoint.
A police spokesman said that initial investigation suggests it was a police encounter but further investigations are underway, and a three-member committee has been formed in this regard.
