Universal Children's Day
Children of today are the Heroes of tomorrow. World today is observing the Universal Children’s Day for the well-being and protection of children.
The General Assembly of United Nations realized the need to commence a special day for the well being of world children in 1954. Universal Children’s Day is observed annually on 20th November by many countries in order to promote mutual understanding among children and to promote the welfare of world’s children.
The core purpose of this initially was well-being and promotion of the children but later the need to spread awareness about cruelty of the world towards children was also felt. The world today is facing serious issues like child labor, child abuse, child prostitution and child pornography. On this day UN put emphasis on creating awareness among children around the globe regarding these issues so that the young child does not suffer from any physical and psychological trauma.
With regard to this day Secretary General of UN Ban Ki-moon led an initiative for the education of every child in 2012. UN goals that every child around the globe attends school by 2015. Pakistan is also in collaboration with UN for making every child of the country to attend school.
