US NGO office sealed over 'suspicious' activities

TOP NEWS

The Federal Government of Pakistan ordered the Washington-based NGO to close all its offices across Pakistan within 15 days. Foreign experts working with the NGO are also asked to leave Pakistan.

The Ministry of Interior has written a letter to all the provincial governments directing them to get all the I-Map offices closed within 15 days.

The letter further directed the authorities to ask all the foreigners associated with the NGO to leave Pakistan and also take an action against local employees.

It should also be noted here that police in Karachi had sealed an I-Map office in November, last year. The office was sealed after police discovered that the NGO was involved in digital mapping of Pakistan’s nuclear instalments and other sensitive locations.

Sources told that these maps could have been used for terrorism-related activities.

It was further told that the authorities have also decided for a crackdown on other NGOs involved in similar activities.
