US, UK seek custody of Lakhvi

ISLAMABAD: United Kingdom and the United States of America have written a letter to the government of Pakistan requesting the country to hand over the main suspect of the Mumbai Attack Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi to them but the authorities have decided not to, ARY News reports.

United Kingdom and United States, in the letter, have written that Americans, Cubans, Koreans and diplomats from various other countries were killed in the attack on Mumbai’s Taj Hotel on 26th November 2008, according to government sources.

The two countries have stated that they want to hold trials against Lakhvi on their own as their nationals have also been killed in the attack.

Sources said that the Interior Ministry has received the letter but  decided to run trial against the alleged mastermind of Mumbai attacks in Pakistan only.
