KARACHI: Sohrab Goth area of Karachi turned into a battleground during an anti-encroachment operation on Monday, ARY News reports.
According to sources, anti-encroachment staff of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation along with huge contingents of Police and Rangers carried out an operation in Sohrab Goth area, which was fiercely resisted by the encroachers. Angry protesters started pelting stones at the vehicle of the metropolitan officials due to which the traffic system was severely affected.
DSP Sohrab Goth Qamar Ahmad, while talking to media on the occasion, said that the anti-encroachment operation was carried out on court orders. He added that more than 100 makeshift shops were removed during the operation.
Mazhar Khan, Director Anti-Encroachment Land, said that the encroachments were removed and will not be allowed to set up again. He observed that the crimes were increasing due to the encroachments in the area.
