Wafaqul Madaris oppose govt move for seminary reforms

The protest over proposed reforms in madrassahs was lodged by Secretary General of Wafaqul Madaris Qari Hanif Jalhandary who categorically stated that religious seminaries do not require any reforms.

He was of the view that the image of religious seminaries was being tarnished and pushed to the wall for no reason.

While non-seriousness from the government on this issue is intolerable, he said. Renowned scholar Mufti Muneebur Rehman and other clerics also took part in the meeting.

The government side was represented by Minister of State for Relgious Affairs Pir Amirul Hasnaat and Minister of State for Interior Baleeghur Rehman.

The meeting ended without any conclusion.
